What’s changed?

In the past we would have to wait until the end of October before the lift pass prices for the coming winter were released. In a welcome change the prices for the 2026/27 Vialattea ski season have been announced already, and while prices have increased compared with last winter, the rises are relatively modest.

There are, however, a few important changes for the coming season. The biggest are the introduction of a new Peak Season price over Christmas and New Year and, good news for families, a new discounted Under-16 lift pass. We also understand that the Bardonecchia extension will now be included on the chip of a 6 day (or more) Vialattea pass so no need to queue up for a day ticket if you decide to venture over to Bardonecchia.

Here’s what you need to know.

When does the Vialattea ski season start?

The planned Vialattea ski season runs from 5 December 2026 until 11 April 2027, snow conditions permitting.

For 2026/27 there are now three different pricing periods:

• Peak Season: 24 December 2026 – 6 January 2027
• High Season: 23 January – 14 March 2027
• Low Season: All other dates

The big change here is the introduction of the new Peak Season tariff covering Christmas and New Year.

Previously, this period fell within the existing pricing structure. Anyone planning a New Year ski holiday will therefore notice a slightly larger increase than skiers visiting at other times of the winter.

How much is a 6 day Vialattea lift pass?

For most visitors, the 6 day pass is probably the most useful comparison, as it covers a typical week’s ski holiday.

How much have Vialattea lift pass prices increased?

There has been a price increase compared with the 2025/26 season, but for most dates we don’t think the increases are excessive.

Using the 6-day adult pass as our comparison:

• Low Season prices have risen by around 2%
• High Season prices have risen by just over 3%
• Christmas and New Year prices have risen by around 6%

The Christmas and New Year period therefore sees the most noticeable increase, reflecting the introduction of the new Peak Season tariff.

For some context, Italy’s annual inflation rate YoY was 2.9% in July 2026. With Low and High Season 6-day passes increasing by roughly 2–3%, the price changes for the majority of the ski season are broadly in line with inflation.

New Under-16 Vialattea lift pass

One of the most welcome changes for 2026/27 winter season is the introduction of a new Under-16 price category.

Previously, there wasn’t a separate junior tariff covering older children, with the main age-related discount applying to young children under seven.

For the coming season, children born on or after 1 December 2010 qualify for the new Under-16 rate.

Based on the price of a 6-day pass, the saving works out at approximately 7% compared with the equivalent full adult lift pass.

For families travelling with teenagers, that’s a useful saving – particularly where there are two or more children in the group.

The existing Under-7 arrangement also remains in place. The online price for a 6 day pass during high season is €96.00. To qualify the child must be born in 2019 or later.

It’s also worth remembering just how much skiing a Vialattea pass gives you access to.

One day’s skiing in Montgenèvre

Montgenèvre sits just across the French border and forms part of the wider Vialattea ski area. It’s well worth making the trip across during your holiday and gives you a chance to experience the French side of the Milky Way.

One day’s skiing in Bardonecchia

Your pass also includes a day in neighbouring Bardonecchia.

Although Bardonecchia isn’t lift-linked to the Vialattea, the included day gives you the opportunity to try another ski resort during your holiday without having to buy an additional day’s lift pass.

Is the Vialattea lift pass still good value?

Despite the price increases, we’d argue that the Vialattea continues to offer very good value compared with many of Europe’s larger ski areas.

An adult skiing during Low Season can buy a 6-day pass online for €261, equivalent to just €43.50 per day.

Even during High Season, the €305 online price works out at approximately €50.83 per day.

Peak Season is €312, or €52 per day.

For that you have access to the huge Vialattea ski area linking resorts including Sauze d’Oulx, Sestriere, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere and Montgenèvre, plus the opportunity to ski for a day in Bardonecchia with passes of six days or more.

Our take on the 2026/27 prices

Overall we think the price changes for 2026/27 are reasonable.

For the majority of the winter, the increase in the price of a 6-day pass is broadly in line with Italian inflation. The exception is the busy Christmas and New Year period.

The addition of an Under-16 tariff is also a positive change and should make a Vialattea ski holiday a little more affordable for families with older children.

If you can, it’s also worth buying your lift pass online before you arrive. Not only is it cheaper than purchasing at the ticket office, with a 6-day adult pass the saving is around €12.50–€13.50 per person, but you also skip the ticket office queue saving you time when you first arrive.

The cost for the optional insurance remains the same at €3.50 per day which we would recommend to everyone.

With the season scheduled to run from 5 December 2026 to 11 April 2027, all that’s left now is to hope for plenty of snow!
