Driving to the slopes: A Stress-Free Alternative to Flying.

Hire a luxury 9-seat self-drive van. As a way to travel from the UK to the Alps, a self-drive hire van provides a comfortable and economical alternative to air travel for families and groups of friends.

Planning a ski holiday in the Italian Alps? While flying may seem like the obvious choice, many visitors are choosing to drive to the mountains instead. With ongoing airport delays, airline disruptions, baggage restrictions, and transfer logistics to consider, travelling by road offers a more flexible and enjoyable way to reach the ski resort.

What’s more, having your own vehicle in resort makes it easy to explore the ViaLattea. Drive to different resorts available on the ViaLattea lift pass, such as Sauze d’Oulx, Sestriere, Bardonecchia and Montgenevre, and enjoy a full day of skiing (first lift to last) without having to worry about missing the last lift connection home.

Why Drive to the Italian Alps?

Driving gives you complete control over your journey. Instead of rushing through airports and waiting for transfers, you can travel at your own pace, stop where you like, and arrive in resort with all your luggage and ski equipment intact.

For families and groups, travelling together can also be more cost-effective than booking multiple flights, airport parking, baggage allowances and resort transfers. You also have the added advantage of having your own transport to allow you to explore other resorts at ease.

Benefits of self drive:

  • Enjoy up to 8 days skiing with a 10 day van rental
  • Use the van to visit neighbouring resorts
  • Large rear storage for all your luggage and kit
  • No airport queues or flight delays
  • TV’s & Entertainment systems, everything you need for a comfortable journey

Iain from the Ski Podcast drove his family to the Alps from Brighton and experienced all the advantages of hiring a van. He has kindly allowed us to use his video to show why, for some, this is a great way of travelling.
