Sauze is not just a winter resort. There’s plenty you can get up to in the summer too. The mountains offer the ideal summer playground if you’re looking for adventure on 2 wheels and Sauze d’Oulx is the perfect resort to base yourself. Ride some excellent cross country trails or drop into the bike park for that shot of adrenalin on the DH trails. If you prefer sticking to tarmac then you’ll be able to ride some of the most famous cols in the world of cycling.

Walking

There are many trials to choose from in the mountains surrounding Sauze d’Oulx covering all levels of experience. Alpine pastures, ancient forests, snow capped mountains and blue skies await you along with the many lakes scattered through the valleys. Each lake will offer something new, sometimes it’s the intensity of its colour with others it’s the wild landscape that reflects in the lakes crystal clear water. An excellent way to get the most out of the experience is to choose the company of an alpine guide who will not only bring an element of safety to the day but help in pointing out places of interest. Guides can be arranged by contacting the tourist office in Sauze.

Via Ferrata

Meaning iron path, Via Ferrata is essentially a route around the mountain with fixed ladders and Tibetan style bridges. You’re secured by a harness to a cable which in turn is fixed to the rock face. They are common place in the Alps and originally provided a safe way to navigate the mountains. The nearest is located in Claviere, a short drive from Sauze. It’s open every weekend from June – September and everyday between July & August.

Adventure Village

The adventure village is a fantastic journey through the tree tops. There are varying degrees of difficulty so all the family can enjoy this exhilarating experience.

You start off with one of the instructors who will take you through the safety aspects explaining how to wear the safety harness and then the adventure begins on a gentle test area in order to assess your confidence. The instructor then follows you as you start to explore life at the top of the trees.
